BASIC FUNCTION:

To assist the administration in providing behavior support plans and response to

intervention plans for chronic absenteeism plans:
  • Monitor and support students as assigned, collect data for behavior support plans, and monitor and provide feedback to staff on student behavior progress.
  • Monitor and support students as assigned, collect data for truancy support plans, and monitor and provide feedback to staff on student attendance progress.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
• Monitor students on a one-to-one basis, in small groups or in large groups to ensure their

safety; follow procedures to safeguard the health and safety of students.
• Collect data and maintain records accurately for tracking and recording student progress

on behavior support plan goals.
• Act as a crisis intervention person, using district approved procedures, during times when

the student is experiencing severe problems. This may include physical restraint, problem

solving, behavior rehearsal, debriefing, and transition management.
• Communicate appropriately with individuals including families, students, and special

education staff. Refer concerns expressed by families, students, or others to appropriate

staff.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics.
• Follows all Board of Education and SBDM Council policies and procedures, and all state and

federal laws and regulations.
• Confer with teachers, when needed, concerning student behavior.
• Promote positive parent and child interactions and activities.
• Participate in staff activities and in special training programs.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

• Behavioral supports and strategies.
• Safe practices in classroom and playground activities.
• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
• Basic record-keeping techniques.
• Health and safety regulations.
• Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
• Operating knowledge of and experience with software for web browsers, word processing,

spreadsheets, presentations, email, etc.
• Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment.

ABILITY TO:
• Learn child guidance principles and practices.
• Communicate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and staff, both

orally and in writing.
• Print and write legibly.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Learn procedures, functions and limitations of assigned duties.
• Monitor, observe and report student's behavior according to approval policies and

procedures.
• Learn and apply safety procedures and regulations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: associate's degree and some experience working with children in an organized setting.
