We are seeking an experienced Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for a 24-week locum tenens assignment in California, starting Jan 5, 2026. This flexible opportunity focuses on youth and adolescent populations, including CSEC patients, and involves working primarily on Fridays with varying hours. Candidates must have practiced and lived exclusively in California for the past five years and bring a minimum of six years of psychiatric experience with adolescents and teens.
Job Details

- Provider Type Needed: Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
- Schedule: Fridays, hours vary (flexible)
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations on each child prior to prescribing psychotropic medications
- Treat mental health disorders in youth and adolescents using medication and psychotherapy
- Coordinate care with Nurse Practitioner and ancillary providers
- Collaborate with support staff to authorize prescription refills and manage medication changes
- Review and approve courses of treatment
- Prepare written medication reviews at least every 45 days
- Attend virtual care coordination meetings
- Respond to urgent patient issues that arise outside of scheduled visits
- Must have practiced and lived only in California for the past 5 years
- Minimum 6 years of experience as a psychiatrist with adolescents, teens, and CSEC patients
- Current California license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Strong compensation
