Performs a variety of activities and equipment operation in the construction, maintenance, and general services related to street, storm drain, pavement marking, and street signing activities. Requires some on-call work. Skill level required depends on level as explained below.
Full Salary Ranges - DOQ based level of experience:
Maintenance Worker I: Entry level position - $22.59-$31.63
Maintenance Worker II: Performs semi-skilled to skilled tasks - $24.40-$34.16
Maintenance Worker III: Performs semi-skilled to skilled tasks - $26.35-$36.89
Maintenance Worker IV: Journey level position - $28.46-$39.84
JOB SUMMARY

Involved in all aspects of asphalt and concrete repair and maintenance; shovel and spread asphalt and asphalt base in patching, repairing, and reconstruction streets.

Participate in the marking of streets and curbs; installation of sign posts and signs; install pavement marking; and perform basic building tasks. Install by direction street barricades and cones prior to the performance of street repair.

Trim and remove trees and root systems from public right-of-way areas. Clean debris from streets, ditches, and other public right-of-way areas.

Snow plowing, sanding, and ice control duties as assigned. Must be available to work after normal working hours and on weekends as needed for snow/ice control maintenance during winter months. (September 1 - April 30).

Operate and perform routine maintenance to construction equipment such as dump trucks, front end loaders, sweepers, patch truck, rollers, and power tools such as compressors, jack hammers, paint sprayers, sandblasters, and concrete saws.

General construction maintenance, routine facility, and vehicle maintenance as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or general education diploma (GED).

Maintenance Worker I
Experience in general construction or municipal government a plus.

Maintenance Worker II
Prerequisite Equipment Proficiencies: Dump Truck, and Patch Truck.
Prerequisite Training and Certification: Class B CDL. Flagger Certification.

Prerequisite Technical Capabilities: Ability to navigate Arc map and Categraph and identify City assets at a given location.

Maintenance Worker III
Minimum two years streets maintenance experience required.

Prerequisite Equipment Proficiencies: Dump Truck, Patch Truck, Loader, Crack Sealer, and Roller.

Prerequisite Training and Certification: Class B CDL. Flagger Certification, AASHTO TC3 Preventive Measures and Preservation Treatments Certificate.

Prerequisite Technical Capabilities: GIS/Arc Map, Ability to navigate Arc map or Cartegraph and identify City assets at a given location.

Maintenance Worker IV
Minimum four years streets maintenance experience required.

Prerequisite Equipment Proficiencies: Dump Truck, Patch Truck, Crack Sealer, Roller, Backhoe, Loader, Sweeper and Skidsteer.

Prerequisite Training and Certification: Class B CDL. Class A CDL Preferred. Flagger Certification, Road Scholar I, Traffic Control Supervisor, Asset Management.

Prerequisite Technical Capabilities: GIS/Arc Map, Ability to navigate Arc map or Cartegraph and identify City assets at a given location. Ability to input asset and work maintenance data to Cartegraph via iPad or desktop computer.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Good driving record with a valid driver's license.

Maintenance Worker I
Valid Class B CDL required within 3 months of hire.

Maintenance Worker II
Current Class B CDL required.
Flagger certification required.

Maintenance Worker III
Class A or B CDL required.
Flagger certification required.
ASSHTO TC3 Preventive Measures and Preservation Treatments Certificate

Maintenance Worker IV
Good driving record with a current Class A or B CDL required. Class A preferred.
Road Scholar I certification required.
Flagger certification required.
Traffic Control Supervisor training required.

Knowledge of proper use of general construction tools and equipment; methods, techniques, and the operational characteristics of mechanical equipment used in the construction and maintenance of asphalt and/or concrete infrastructure; methods, techniques, and the operational characteristics of mechanical equipment used in traffic marking paint/tape and sign installation.

MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Hand and power tools, pick-up truck, dump truck, patch truck, crack sealer, roller, backhoe, loader, sweeper, skidsteer and other light mechanical equipment as needed. Asphalt and concrete tools.
