The Behavioral Health Services Division (BHSD) administers a range of supportive housing programs, fourteen (14) statewide programs areas with over sixty (60) contracts and thirty-five (35) providers. Programs include but are not limited to the Linkages Permanent Supportive Housing Program; the Set Aside Housing/Special Needs Program (SAHP/SN) associated with Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties; Crisis Housing; Fresh Start Rental Assistance; Move In Assistance and Eviction Prevention (MIAEP); Oxford House; SSI/SSDI Outreach and Access to Recovery (SOAR); Shelters; and Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH), a SAMHSA formula grant focused on homeless individuals with serious mental illness.
The Supervisor, Social Services will:
- Serve as lead and coordinate the expansion of supportive housing programs, which will allow for opportunities of increased collaboration, work production and increase access to housing for New Mexicans receiving behavioral health services.
The Supervisor, Social Services is responsible for:
- Providing oversight to multiple supportive housing programs and two (2) program coordinators;
- Serving as the primary point of contact for supportive housing decisions, based on collaborative discussions, housing issues, and financial and program management;
- Providing direct and collaborative support to BHSD leadership, Medical Assistance Division (MAD), other state agencies and related agencies and as needed to collaborate on contractual management and oversight;
- Supervisory duties including: supportive housing policy and quality program implementation; budget maintenance and compliance; data gathering, assessment, and sharing; participation in the regionalization of behavioral health services pertaining to housing services;
- Medicaid efforts related to housing services;
- Collaborating with statewide stakeholders and entities to address housing service gaps and needs;
- Supervising BHSD supportive housing staff to include managing leave requests, performance evaluations, training, and technical assistance.
- The Health Care Authority (HCA);
- The Behavioral Health Services Division (BHSD);
- Legislative Staff;
- The Citizens of New Mexico.
The Ideal Candidate has:
- Excellent research and writing skills;
- Familiarity with the New Mexico Behavioral Health system;
- Familiarity with supportive housing services;
- Supervisory experience.
Minimum Qualification
Associate's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Family Studies/Services, Social Sciences, or Human Services and two (2) years of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, and/or behavioral health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
Working Conditions
Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Some travel is required.
