Wellspring is a statewide nonprofit serving families and children across Michigan. We take a whole-person, strength-based approach to working with families because we believe lasting change begins with recognizing and building upon their strengths. We are currently seeking a Family Preservation Worker to join our Families Together Building Solutions (FTBS) Program, supporting families throughout Mid-Michigan, including Saginaw, Bay, Midland, Clare, and Isabella counties. In this role, you will provide short-term, home-based services designed to support family stability, strengthen protective factors, and promote long-term self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the Families Together Building Solutions (FTBS) model of service, utilizing a strength-based, non-deficit approach.

• Provide and assist families in accessing concrete services such as housing support, transportation, home cleaning, maintenance, and repairs.

• Deliver skills training in areas including parenting, communication, self-advocacy, and self-sufficiency.

• Provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention to families experiencing stress or instability.

• Make collateral contacts to coordinate support such as outpatient counseling, medical care, educational needs, utility assistance, and housing resources.

• Prepare and maintain documentation—including service plans, progress reports, termination summaries, goal sheets, weekly plans, time reports, and related correspondence—within required timeframes.

• Present each case for termination conferences with contractors and recommend appropriate follow-up services.

• Maintain 24-hour availability to clients and a flexible work schedule based on the needs of each family.

• Maintain face-to-face contact with families according to contract requirements and family-specific needs.

• Maintain weekly contact (or more as needed) with referring workers.

• Complete follow-up evaluations at 3, 6, and 12 months within designated timeframes.

• Transport clients in your own vehicle as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human services–related field required.

• Experience working with children and families preferred.

• Reliable, responsible, and compassionate approach to supporting families.

• Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.

• Current and valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and auto insurance required.

Schedule and Compensation

• Hybrid Remote: Home-based with travel into the community throughout Saginaw, Bay, Midland, Clare, and Isabella counties.

• Schedule: Full-time with flexible hours and 24-hour call availability as needed.

• Weekly team meetings, trainings, and clinical supervision (1–2 times per week).

• Pay Rate: $43,000 / year (based on experience and education).

• Mileage reimbursement provided for work-related travel
