Your contributions will make a significant impact every day in the Operating Room.

Schedule/Hours: Evening shift with options for 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, including overnight call (approximately 5-8 slots plus 1-2 weekend slots every 8 weeks). Call hours may vary, requiring arrival within 30 minutes.

Major Responsibilities:

• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment conducive to optimal patient care, utilizing aseptic surgical techniques.
• Assist in preparing materials, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures while anticipating the surgeon's needs.
• Ensure the operating room is environmentally disinfected, safe, and efficient, including room setup and equipment maintenance.
• Function as a Second Assistant as required and assist in positioning and transporting patients.
• Report any issues with equipment or supplies to the appropriate staff.
• Maintain specialty carts ensuring completeness and sterility.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to care for patients of various ages, providing age-appropriate care.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association, to be obtained within 6 months if not already held.

Education Required:

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Experience Required:

• No prior experience necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques.
• Familiarity with operating room equipment.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
• Must lift up to 50 lbs., lift 20 lbs. overhead, and carry 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
• Push/pull with a force of 30 lbs. and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.
• Use foot pedals and withstand exposure to various hazards, including blood and body fluids.
• Must have functional sight and hearing and be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
