The Role

Specific Job Description

The incumbent will perform a variety of Engineering duties supporting the entire Supplier Inspection function within the Supplier Quality Department. Specific duties may include the following: Process oversight and coordination with Hardware, Software, and Source Inspection processes; engineering support for audits of Supplier Inspection (both internal and external audits); initiation, development, and implementation of inspection process improvements; training of inspection personnel; development and documentation of process procedures. Individual should possess a working knowledge of shipyard operations, manufacturing methods and facilities. Working experience in a manufacturing environment is desired. Must be able to accomplish objectives successfully with little/no supervision. Project management/leadership experience is desired. Proficiency with computer programs such as SAP and Excel are desired. Excellent communication, technical writing, and customer relations skills are essential. Must be able to obtain DoD security clearance.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
