Summary:

The Program Specialist provides direct, non-therapeutic services for the Child Abuse Prevention Program (CAPP) and works closely with other program staff and/or volunteers.

Essential Functions
  • Completes specific program assignments, including but not limited to:
    • Deliver program presentations to students, parents, and teachers in school and community-based settings.
    • Assists with the development and updating of program materials.
  • Assists with program related correspondence about activities.
  • Completes assigned program documentation accurately and on-time.
  • Delivers presentations both in-person and virtually.
  • Receives disclosures of child abuse or neglect and reports disclosures as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned
  • Complies with all company policies and standards.

Education: Bachelor's degree

Work Experience: One year of experience in program area.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to analyze/solve problems and communicate recommendations.
  • Advanced presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate information calmly in high-stress situations, demonstrating sensitivity to the population being served (elderly, teachers, young students, and adults/families dealing with severe mental illness).
  • Ability to use general office equipment, computers, and related software programs.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and support of the JFS mission and values.

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an office environment, employee's home, or in a school/camp setting.

Physical Demands

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The position may require standing for more than an hour at a time.

At times, staff must transport heavy portfolios and paperwork weighing as much as 50 pounds. The potential exists for highly stressful and emotionally-charged encounters with clients and/or family members.

Travel

Will require travel to schools, camps, other agencies/organizations. Programs are presented throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan area, as well as, outlying areas, leading to substantial travel requirements that may exceed 50% of time. Must have access to private, reliable transportation.
