Job Purpose

  • The Lead Software Engineer plays a crucial role in the successful development and deployment of enterprise-level products. This includes strategic planning, organizing workflows, and ensuring high-quality, secure, and reliable systems.
  • This individual will support maintenance of existing applications and will guide senior management in assessing new technologies, long-term systems strategy, hardware and software testing, and system usage monitoring.
  • As a vital member of the team, the Lead Software Engineer will direct and resolve technical challenges promptly, assess both immediate and future needs, and provide valuable insights to the leadership team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main deployment manager for all code changes across various product teams, encompassing cloud-based, mobile, and on-premise applications.
  • Maintain the release repository and manage essential information, including build and release procedures.
  • Assist with overall release planning and governance, perform risk assessments, manage milestones, prioritize releases, provide status updates, review production readiness, and oversee change implementations.
  • Offer technical expertise to senior management for ongoing long-term information systems planning and the selection of new hardware and software systems.
  • Conduct research and provide input on long-range digital initiatives; collaborate with partners, clients, and staff to evaluate new technologies.
  • Research emerging products, services, protocols, and standards to enhance security, development efforts, and deployment processes.
  • Proactively help identify operational improvement opportunities through technology use.
  • Guide local and offshore teams in delivering ongoing technical support while structuring, leading, training, and developing IT staff for maximum efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement policies, procedures, and project management plans to ensure the quality and integrity of the information management system.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with business units and technology vendors; communicate effectively with management, staff, and vendors regarding planning, implementation, and support of technology resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field; substantial industry experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
  • Extensive knowledge of the installation, implementation, and coordination of application software solutions and computer systems.
  • In-depth understanding of IT organizational development and operational practices, including Maturity Modeling, Service Delivery, Quality Management, Design Thinking, Project Management, and IT Governance.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a comparable role.
  • An organized and self-driven individual capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast-moving IT landscape and keep abreast of the latest technologies, methodologies, and policies.
  • An articulate professional capable of relating to individuals at all organizational levels, with outstanding communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing the design and implementation of high-volume, high-performance enterprise software solutions.
  • Experience developing and integrating APIs for both internal and external consumers.
  • A security-focused approach toward developing, deploying, and delivering products.
  • Experience in regulated industries is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Angular and a Microsoft technology stack.
  • Experience with SQL Server 2019 or newer.
  • Relevant industry experience, particularly in healthcare, insurance, or PBM sectors is preferred.
