Grants Management Specialist

Soni Resources is partnering with a growing Mental Health organization near Toms River, NJ, in the search for a Grants Management Specialist. This is a dynamic position working within the budgeting, expense and reporting of their grants provided to the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day financial management of behavioral health grants, ensuring contract and regulatory compliance.
- Track budgets, expenses, timelines, and cost allocations across clinical and support programs.
- Review grant agreements to implement financial requirements, billing structures, and allowable cost rules.
- Partner to development and submission of grant proposals and RFPs, including narratives and budgets.
- Assist with regular budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, forecasts, and required financial statements.
- Monitor restricted funds and support effective use of unrestricted revenue.
- Coordinate with manager and program teams to track service units, deliverables, and performance-based funding.
- Support audits, renewals, regulatory reviews, and maintain strong internal controls.
- Assist with grant management systems and train staff on compliance and budget procedures.
- Serve as a financial liaison to auditors, funders, and contract monitors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-5 years of nonprofit finance experience, including behavioral health or human services grants.
- Experience with state/federal funders (SAMHSA, HRSA, Medicaid, county behavioral health, MCOs).
Preferred Skills:
- Strong GAAP, fund accounting, and federal grant compliance knowledge.
- Proficiency with financial systems, grant software, and advanced Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively; EHR experience preferred.
- Ability to follow policies and attend required agency meetings.
Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
