Pharmacy Intern Technician

Join our dynamic team as a Pharmacy Intern Technician, where you will gain invaluable experience in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. This hybrid role enables you to build essential pharmacy technician skills while actively engaging with patients and providers through innovative digital technologies. Working under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, you will play a crucial role in our clinical team, particularly within Pharmacy Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists in following up with providers and health plans following comprehensive medication reviews.
  • Manage correspondence, including mailings and fax communications to patients and healthcare providers, and facilitate distribution of gift cards when applicable.
  • Support data entry tasks and patient assistance protocols while reaching out to insurance carriers, providers, and pharmacies to resolve medication access issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations, including HIPAA and safety standards.
  • Help prepare accurate reports for stakeholders, communicating patient data effectively under pharmacist supervision.
  • Professionally handle and route incoming phone calls in a timely manner.
  • Review pharmacy documentation for accuracy and provide necessary updates.
  • Communicate follow-up actions and resolutions directly with patients, providers, and internal care teams.
  • Document patient interactions and enrollment activities in the Scene platform.
  • Conduct outreach through calls, texts, and emails to engage eligible patients and facilitate their enrollment in Scene's care programs.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team, including nurses and pharmacists, to ensure seamless and high-quality patient care.
  • Provide constructive feedback on program processes to enhance the patient experience.
  • Participate in video-based patient engagement efforts as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
  • Eligible for or in the process of obtaining state pharmacy technician registration or licensure as required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and listening skills, exhibiting a high level of empathy.
  • Interest in patient engagement, health coaching, or community health initiatives.
  • Comfortable using various communication methods such as phone, SMS, and video.
  • Ability to learn and navigate pharmacy management software, Salesforce, and mobile health applications.
  • Willingness to learn to communicate medical and technical concepts clearly and patiently.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
