Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Job Role

As a Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will prioritize safety in all tasks, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and contamination control standards. You will consistently wear and promote the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.

Your main responsibilities will include assisting in conducting preventive maintenance, which covers changing fluids and filters, pulling SOS samples, lubricating components, cleaning equipment, and performing operational tests to check performance.

You will learn to effectively communicate and coordinate with the Field Maintenance Dispatcher and customers to plan and schedule your tasks, ensuring timely completion of preventive maintenance activities.

In this role, you will gather necessary information, supporting documents, and photos for repairs identified during maintenance visits, which will be submitted to the Preventive Maintenance Dispatcher.

You should maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate night and weekend work when necessary.

Maintaining an orderly work environment is essential, as is adherence to contamination control guidelines. You will consistently look for opportunities to improve work methods and safety standards.

Daily inspections of maintenance trucks in compliance with MSHA and OSHA requirements will be part of your routine tasks.

Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED.

1-2 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.

Required Credentials

Ability to understand written material and communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.

Valid Driver's License.

Desired Credentials

Commercial Driver's License.

This position will require practical problem-solving and occasional creativity within established guidelines.

Working Environment

This role may involve occasional exposure to stressors, but workload fluctuations will generally be manageable, with work primarily taking place after regular business hours.

Supervisory Responsibility

You will operate independently or as part of a team, with no direct supervisory duties.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

The role entails frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, and walking, as well as occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 lbs. Environmental conditions can vary, including exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, and potential hazards from mechanical operations.
