KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, and repair diesel equipment such as tractors, trailers, bobtails, and lift gates.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance in accordance with DOT standards.

  • Manage road calls, coordinating with third-party vendors, and strategize with business partners on action plans.

  • Ensure a clean and safe workspace, adhering to workplace safety standards and governmental regulations.

  • Utilize fleet maintenance software on a tablet to accurately document repairs and parts used.

  • Support other maintenance shop personnel as needed.

  • Exhibit a willingness to take on more responsibilities and pursue additional certifications.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Collaborate with all Fleet Technicians, Drivers, Coordinators, and Managers.

  • External: Interact with vendor service providers when necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Onsite: This position requires performing duties inside a US Foods maintenance facility.

  • Must be prepared to work in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic.

  • Demonstrated competency in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment.

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with implementing effective preventative maintenance programs.

  • Must supply personal hand tools.

  • Able to read, write clearly, and have basic math skills.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

CERTIFICATIONS/TRAINING

  • N/A

LICENSES

  • A valid driver's license is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Class-A CDL license and DOT certification are highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with fleet maintenance software.

  • Welding skills are a plus.

COMPENSATION:

The expected base hourly rate for this role is between $33 and $36, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Overtime compensation will also be provided.
