The Phlebotomist I plays a critical role in enhancing patient care by providing essential services during health assessments and procedures. This position involves drawing high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while adhering to established procedures to ensure safety and accuracy. The Phlebotomist I interacts directly with patients, fostering an environment of trust while skillfully explaining procedures and ensuring a comfortable experience.

Under the guidance of a supervisor, the Phlebotomist I will:

  • Carry out daily responsibilities efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain a safe, professional environment during all interactions.
  • Perform clinical specimen collection and processing with confidence, following best practices.
  • Keep accurate records and documentation as required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to organizational values and promote a positive image to patients and the community.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to consistently deliver quality, error-free work in a dynamic environment.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Flexible scheduling is necessary, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Medical training, such as that for medical assistants or paramedics, is preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification is preferred (mandatory in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 12 months of related experience is required, with more than 2 years in phlebotomy being preferred.
  • Experience in customer service in retail or service settings is preferred.
  • Demonstrated keyboard/data entry experience is crucial.

Additional Requirements:

  • Fluency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
  • Reliable personal transportation is mandatory; Uber and public transport do not qualify.
  • At least one year of blood draw experience is required.

Hired candidates will undergo mandatory in-classroom training at our lab in Miramar, with training dates to be determined. The training will involve travel to nearby Patient Service Centers.

This is a high-volume site with the expectation of handling 30-40 blood draws per day per phlebotomist.
