Role Expectations:

  • Design Leadership: Bring your rich expertise in product design to guide your team in creating innovative solutions that solve complex challenges and propel product strategies.
  • Team Development: Cultivate a positive, inclusive environment while mentoring designers to unlock their full potential and align their goals with broader business objectives.
  • Strategic Insight: Shape product direction by leveraging user insights and business understanding, ensuring user needs drive our overall strategy for innovative solutions.
  • Human-Centered Approach: Advocate for design methodologies that harmonize customer needs with business goals, utilizing research insights and expertise in problem-solving.
  • Business Acumen: Use deep knowledge of market trends, products, and competitors to guide the design team in effective portfolio management and strategic pivoting.
  • Problem-Solving Expertise: Utilize technological capabilities and emerging trends to craft innovative design strategies that enable your cross-functional team to thrive.
  • Collaboration: Foster partnerships across the organization, embracing diverse perspectives to enhance project outcomes and address strategic challenges collaboratively.
  • Effective Communication: Present design work with poise across different levels and roles, clearly articulating complex ideas in a strategic, human-centered context.

The ideal candidate will showcase a robust portfolio that reflects leadership, impactful processes, and results.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in a Product Design role.
  • 6+ years of expertise in design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in a Product Design role.
  • 8+ years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
  • Experience with established design systems.
  • Collaboration experience with product, tech, and business leaders.
  • Proven experience leading design projects or teams.

Capital One's locations include McLean, VA, New York, NY, and Richmond, VA. The offered full-time annual salary for this role ranges as follows:

  • McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300
  • New York, NY: $210,500 - $240,300
  • Richmond, VA: $175,500 - $200,300
