Job Summary Sonographer
This position is responsible for delivering high-quality ultrasound imaging and ensuring a positive, professional, and supportive experience for every patient. The Sonographer will perform a variety of obstetric and gynecologic scans, maintain equipment, and provide accurate preliminary imaging data to support clinical decision-making.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review patient medical history and provider instructions.
- Prepare ultrasound equipment and select appropriate settings for each procedure.
- Explain procedures to patients and document relevant medical information.
- Position patients to obtain the best diagnostic views.
- Apply ultrasound gel to ensure proper sound wave transmission.
- Operate ultrasound equipment to capture and record diagnostic images.
- Monitor scan images for abnormalities and select key images for physician review.
- Take measurements, calculate values, and record findings in preliminary reports.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure equipment is properly adjusted and maintained.
- Protect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Follow safety, infection control, and quality improvement policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma.
- Associate or bachelors degree in sonography from an accredited program.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a medical sonographer in an OB/GYN setting.
- Current ARDMS certification with OB/GYN specialty required.
- Certification in nuchal translucency scans required.
