Located in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the Assistant Fleet Mechanic plays a key role in supporting Egan Landscape Group's fleet of trucks, heavy machinery, and small equipment. You'll work in our state-of-the-art 11,000 sq. ft. shop, assisting with preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs. OBJECTIVES

  • Assist in keeping the fleet in peak condition by performing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs on trucks, trailers, loaders, excavators, skid steers, and small engines.
  • Support troubleshooting and diagnostics to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Help perform scheduled preventative maintenance to extend equipment life.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Track and document all maintenance and repairs in company records.
  • Assist with parts inventory management and coordinate orders to avoid delays.
  • Respond to field service calls as needed to get crews back up and running.
  • Work with management and senior mechanic to prioritize repairs and maintenance.
  • Learn and share knowledge regarding proper equipment use and basic care.
COMPETENCIES
  • 2-3 years' hands-on mechanical experience preferred, including diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and willingness to learn under pressure.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
  • Proficiency with a wide range of tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with management and crews.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/trade certification preferred.
  • Proven experience repairing and maintaining a variety of vehicles and construction/landscape equipment.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance schedules and record-keeping.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role involves both indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions, frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling, and operating tools or heavy equipment. Must be able to work in tight spaces and handle materials safely.
