Job Summary: Director of Engineering Operations

Location: In Person, Hotel Casa del Mar, Santa Monica, CA

Reports To: Hotel General Manager

Overview

We are seeking an accomplished, hands-on Director of Engineering Operations to safeguard the physical integrity, safety, and efficiency of our luxury hotel facility. This pivotal leadership role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic management, and a commitment to maintaining world-class standards in a 24/7 environment. You will be responsible for leading the entire Engineering team and managing all building systems to ensure asset protection and exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Luxury Facility Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance, rehabilitation, and overall upkeep of the facility's physical structure and grounds, ensuring all work adheres to the uncompromising quality standards of a luxury hotel.
  • Advanced Systems Management: Take charge of the maintenance and oversight of all critical building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration systems.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, train, and manage all Engineering personnel. Establish a High-Performance Culture and empower the team to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Strategic & Financial Oversight: Develop and manage the engineering budget, and assign/manage all repair, replacement, and CAPEX (capital expenditure) projects.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Cal OSHA, Fire/Life Safety codes, and all federal, state, and local regulations. Lead the Emergency Response Team for all facility-related critical situations.
  • Energy Management: Utilize the Building Management System (BMS) to systematically maintain effective energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of engineering managementexperience in a hospitality environment. Luxury hotel experience is highly preferred.
  • Technical Mastery: Required technical training in building structures, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Master Technician licensing is highly desirable.
  • Leadership & Hands-On Ability: Proven ability to build and lead a high-performing Engineering team, coupled with the physical capability to perform essential maintenance tasks and an unwavering hands-on approach.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Strong analytical skills are necessary for interpreting system schematics and utility consumption trends, along with proficiency in Microsoft applications and advanced report generation.
