Quality Inspector for Construction Projects
Work Location: Minot AFB (Minot, ND)
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
REQUIREMENT - Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and assess each stage of the construction process to guarantee adherence to schedules, specifications, and shop drawings. Proactively identify challenges, propose enhancements, and evaluate the need for contract adjustments.
- Conduct thorough site inspections and create daily reports in RMS, detailing observations, tracking progress, documenting work activities, flagging safety issues, and monitoring subcontractor manpower levels.
- Support all stages of the contract modification process by assisting in the preparation of scopes of work for RFPs, developing government estimates, reviewing contractor proposals, and other relevant documentation.
- Assess contractor plans and technical submissions for approval, including reviewing progress schedules, safety, quality control programs, certifications, and shop drawings.
- Prepare communications regarding contractor performance, including Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REAs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and other technical matters.
- Calculate and produce both partial and final payment estimates, ensuring precise tracking of pay item quantities, materials on site, and completion percentages for lump sum items.
- Monitor the scheduled progress of all construction activities, notifying the Resident Engineer, COR, and project team of any potential setbacks or issues.
- Actively participate in RFI and Submittal reviews, collaborating with designers, RE, and technical specialists to ensure timely contractor responses.
- Maintain organized data crucial for effective project management and informed decision-making.
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED; a degree in a construction-related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in large, complex federal construction projects, especially with the Department of Defense or USACE.
- Familiarity with RMS 3.0 is preferred.
- Experience with a three-phase inspection process is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and the EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual is preferred.
