Senior Data Quality Assurance Engineer

We are seeking a talented Senior Data Quality Assurance Engineer to join our dynamic remote engineering team. This senior-level position is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, possess exceptional problem-solving skills, and are comfortable leading technical initiatives across product, data, and analytics domains.

In this role, you will take ownership of QA processes for critical projects, spanning customer-facing applications, backend systems, and large-scale data workflows. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design effective QA strategies, guide their implementation, and maintain best practices across all aspects of our work.

You will bring a robust background in quality assurance and have hands-on experience in data validation, test automation, and modern QA practices across APIs, data pipelines, and web applications. As a confident QA leader, you will navigate complex systems, resolve ambiguities, and foster clarity through structured test strategies. Your responsibilities will include defining and executing comprehensive test plans that will shape the way we ensure data and system quality at scale.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Creating and managing data QA processes, including test documentation, incident tracking, and quality metrics dashboards.
• Designing and implementing end-to-end test strategies for data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data warehouses, and reporting systems.
• Building automated data validation frameworks to guarantee accuracy, consistency, and reliability of large-scale datasets.
• Establishing and maintaining data quality checks, test plans, and monitoring solutions across structured and semi-structured data sources.
• Leading QA initiatives across data-driven projects, in collaboration with Data Engineering, Analytics, Engineering, and Project Management teams.
• Developing SQL and script-based test suites to validate data transformations, business logic, and aggregation rules.
• Supporting analytics, BI, and reporting platforms by ensuring data integrity, lineage, and metric accuracy.
• Identifying data quality issues proactively and driving their resolution through thorough root cause analysis and stakeholder engagement.
• Integrating automated data tests into CI/CD workflows to ensure continuous data validation and quicker release cycles.
• Mentoring fellow QA team members on data validation techniques, automation strategies, and best practices in the data domain.

Ideal candidates will meet the following requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in quality assurance.
• 4+ years of experience specifically focused on Data QA Engineering or Data QA Analysis.
• Strong understanding of QA processes, test design techniques, and industry standards.
• Expertise in scripting languages such as JavaScript and Python.
• Proven capabilities in designing, developing, and scaling Data QA processes.
• Experience managing QA efforts with standard QA and project management tools like Testrails, Jira, and Confluence.
• Experience in white/grey box testing.
• Comfortable in building and integrating with production-grade ETL/data pipelines.
• Competency in building and maintaining data quality automation frameworks using SQL, JavaScript, Python, or tools like DBT tests, Apache Airflow validations, etc.
• Familiarity with data governance concepts and experience with relevant tools or platforms.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), CI/CD workflows, and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Ability to lead Data QA projects across application and data-focused initiatives.
• Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring QA analysts and engineers, contributing to QA culture and professional growth.
• Ability to adapt in fast-paced startup or scaling environments.
• Prior experience in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated data settings is a plus.

• Familiarity with data observability, schema governance, or data lineage tools.
• Exposure to machine learning pipelines, business intelligence tools, or product instrumentation.
• Knowledge of mobile development frameworks such as React Native or Capacitor.
