Your Role: As a vital member of our operating room team at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center—the largest hospital in Wisconsin—you will contribute to life-saving procedures while working in a supportive, innovative environment. Your skills in maintaining aseptic techniques, attention to detail, and ability to adapt in high-pressure situations will directly impact our patients' well-being.
Schedule: Full-time, evening shifts (8 or 10 hours), Monday through Friday, with on-call duties, which primarily occur overnight. Be prepared to arrive within 30 minutes in case of on-call situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment for optimal patient care by utilizing aseptic surgical techniques.
- Prepare materials and equipment for surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile field and anticipating the Surgeons’ needs.
- Effectively manage the surgical environment, including setting up and breaking down equipment.
- Act as a Second Assistant as needed.
- Ensure all equipment and supplies are in working order and notify staff of any issues.
- Safely transport patients and maintain specialty carts.
- Demonstrate knowledge of patient care appropriate to their age, ensuring personalized care delivery.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required within 6 months of hire.
- No prior experience is required, making this an excellent opportunity for recent graduates.
Skills Needed:
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and operating room equipment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
Physical Requirements: This role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, including:
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist and 20 lbs. overhead.
- Carrying up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Using proper techniques for patient positioning and moving equipment.
- Adhering to safety standards and utilizing personal protective equipment.
