Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' speech, language, and communication abilities.
  • Develop customized therapy plans and goals based on assessment results and students' needs.
  • Deliver direct therapy services to elementary and middle school students, focusing on areas such as articulation, phonology, language comprehension, fluency, and pragmatics.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and other team members to support students' communication goals in various educational settings.
  • Utilize evidence-based techniques and activities during therapy sessions to foster speech and language development.
  • Monitor and document students' progress, adjusting therapy plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Engage in case management for speech-only students.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing insights regarding students' speech and language needs.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Experience providing speech-language therapy services in a school or pediatric context.
  • Familiarity with assessment tools and therapeutic methods commonly used in pediatric speech-language therapy.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • SIRAS experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and other assistive technology is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, employees will frequently need to stand, walk, and navigate different areas within the school environment. Effective communication with students, staff, and parents is essential, both verbally and in writing. The role may involve lifting or moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally requires bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Candidates must also possess the stamina to supervise and engage actively with students throughout the school day.
