Overview
We are seeking a T elemetry Patient Care Assistant II , sometimes referred to as a Telemetry Nurse Aide, Patient Care Partner (PCP ) or a Telemetry PCA . Our Telemetry Patient Care Assistant ( Telemetry PCA ) will work in our hospital’s telemetry unit, providing general patient care while also supporting continuous heart and vital sign monitoring for cardiac patients.
Shifts Available : Nights
Employment Type : Full Time
Hours : 12 -hour shifts
Location: Harlingen Medical Center - Harlingen, Texas

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
-
S upport patients with daily living activities, deliver basic nursing care, and help maintain a safe environment while working under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse overseeing the team or unit
-
Carry out general PCA responsibilities such as recording vital signs, assisting with bathing, feeding, toileting, repositioning, collecting specimens, and transporting patients while maintaining monitoring connections
-
Monitor telemetry equipment , observ e rhythm strips, recogniz e alarms, and alert nurses to changes such as arrhythmias or abnormal heart rates
-
Assist with lead and wire care , replac e or secur e connections, ensur e monitors stay accurate and troubleshoot any issues that may interrupt monitoring
-
Document patient activities and vital information in charts, report abnormal findings quickly, and offer emotional reassurance to reduce anxiety in patients being monitored for heart conditions
Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
-
Current Certification in Patient Care required (M.A. / CNA / EMT / Paramedic / Patient Care Tech, etc.) 3. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintain current. 4. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current 5. Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician preferred. 6. Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred. 7. Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred. 8. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology. 9. Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
