Pharmacy Operations Manager

Job Summary:
As a vital component of our healthcare team, the Pharmacy Operations Manager ensures exemplary pharmacy services are delivered to patients. You will provide compassionate consulting on medication usage and drug interactions, while also offering preventive and clinical healthcare services like immunizations and diagnostic testing. Your role includes overseeing the accurate compounding, dispensing, and verification of medications in accordance with regulatory standards and company policies. Fostering a streamlined pharmacy workflow, you will engage with patients to enhance their experience and manage essential pharmacy operations, finances, and inventory. You will lead and develop pharmacy staff through effective training and coaching initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Patient Experience:
- Foster positive patient interactions by providing assistance with pharmacy products and services.
- Implement best practices in customer service that reflect empathy and inclusivity.
- Proactively connect with patients to inform them of available healthcare services.
- Engage in community events to enhance the pharmacy’s local presence.
- Operations:
- Provide medication counseling and address patient inquiries with respect to proper usage and potential interactions.
- Perform critical pharmacist tasks such as compounding and medication management.
- Oversee the compliance of pharmacy operations with relevant regulations and company standards.
- Manage pharmacy workflow by optimizing staff scheduling, roles, and responsibilities.
- Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and follow up with healthcare providers on medication clarifications.
- Conduct clinical and wellness services like immunizations and diagnostic testing.
- Handle pharmacy maintenance to ensure a clean and efficient working environment.
- Submit necessary documentation according to state and federal regulations.
- People & Performance Management:
- Participate in hiring, performance management, and staff development.
- Foster teamwork and establish clear performance goals with pharmacy staff.
- Monitor and support employee morale through regular check-ins and resolution of conflicts.
- Training & Personal Development:
- Stay current on licensing and maintain knowledge of pharmacy trends and best practices.
- Complete required training and seek feedback for ongoing professional growth.
- Communications:
- Support the Store Manager by conveying relevant health and wellness information to pharmacy staff.
- Business Performance Management:
- Analyze performance data to identify trends and enhance pharmacy operations.
- Business Planning:
- Build relationships with local healthcare providers to promote pharmacy services and community health initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D Degree from an accredited institution.
- Current pharmacist licensure within the relevant states.
- Certified Immunizer or willing to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- A minimum of 1 year of pharmacy experience in various operational aspects.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal laws regarding controlled substances.
- If an internal candidate, must have a minimum rating of 3.0 on last performance review and no written disciplinary actions in the last 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in supervising and directing pharmacy staff.
- At least 6 months of experience with Walgreens.
- If an internal candidate, should have an average rating of 3.7 or above on last performance review.
