Schedule/Hours: Full-time evening shifts (8 or 10 hr shifts) primarily Monday through Friday with some on-call requirements, including overnight and weekends in rotation.

Major Responsibilities:

• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the operating room to ensure optimal patient care.
• Utilize aseptic techniques when preparing materials, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Assist with various types of procedures and maintain knowledge of them.
• Set up the operating room for each procedure and return equipment post-procedure.
• Function as a Second Assistant when required.
• Report any equipment or supply issues to the appropriate staff.
• Transport patients, equipment, and supplies as necessary.
• Maintain specialty carts and check for equipment sterility and working order.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills in patient care across all ages.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months unless otherwise determined by department leadership.

Education Required:

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Experience Required:

• No prior experience necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques.
• Familiarity with operating room equipment.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Maintain annual educational requirements for certifications.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, often stressful environment.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs., carry up to 40 lbs., and push/pull forces of 30 lbs.
• Ability to perform transfers with assistance and operate essential equipment.
• Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical hazards, and bodily fluids is expected.
• Must have functional sight and hearing.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, gloves, and gowns are required.
• Frequent physical activity including walking, standing, bending, and lifting is necessary.
