Feedmill Maintenance

Full Time - Hourly

1st Shift Monday to Friday, 6am - 2pm

2nd shift Monday to Friday, 2pm -10pm

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is between $21.38 - $29.93 per hour, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.

  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States

Purpose of Position :

Safely and efficiently operate, maintain and repair feed mill equipment, utilizing preventive and emergency procedures to ensure the timely manufacturing of feed for turkeys. Also, help other employees with safety, customer service, quality control, productivity and cost control by providing involvement in feed mill management and operating decisions/problem solving.

Working Conditions:

Working environment includes both outside and indoor activities. Exposure to all weather conditions is possible. Position requires the ability to work from extreme heights. Physical effort required for working with various machines and equipment. Must have ability to work within a dusty environment and lift 50 pounds.

Principal Accountabilities :

  1. Maintain and continually update preventive maintenance programs for all equipment within the department.

  2. Document maintenance programs

  3. Document maintenance performed

  4. Be able to read, write and communicate in the English Language

  5. Maintain inventory of equipment and the listing of physical characteristics such as type, serial number, shaft sizes speeds, etc.

  6. Carry out Maintenance plan

  7. Daily inspection of all equipment

  8. Regular weekly greasing and oiling.

  9. Report all large jobs to plan for in house schedule.

  10. Report parts needed to complete repairs.

  11. Help plan for manpower needed for large maintenance and equipment modification projects.

  12. Maintain and trouble shoot electrical system

  13. Maintain and update program to stock and re-stock necessary replacement parts to minimize equipment downtime.

  14. Maintain the maintenance shop

  15. Train co-workers in equipment maintenance and equipment repair

  16. Be knowledgeable in all equipment operating functions within the Feed Mill.

  17. Perform all housekeeping duties required to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

  18. Oversee operation of the Steam Generator (Boiler).

  19. Complete daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance duties as outlined by the manufacture.

  20. Ensure soft water at all times.

  21. Maintain and ensure proper operation of the Hot water heating system.

  22. Perform monthly quality control tests and make appropriate adjustments of equipment.

  23. Possess the appropriate boiler operating license.
