We're searching for a Software Engineer II, Pipeline Automation & Acceleration.

Role/Team overview:

Join Aurora's innovative Autonomy Action: Behavior Data Engine team as a Software Engineer and play a pivotal role in the development and validation of autonomous driving technology. Our team is at the forefront of building the critical tools, robust data pipelines, scalable infrastructure, and sophisticated machine learning classifiers that empower data-driven behavioral development and rigorous validation for the Motion Planner.

In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing automated, human-in-the-loop pipelines and tools. This challenging and rewarding work is absolutely essential for generating the high-quality, diverse data needed to thoroughly validate and continuously optimize the Aurora Driver's planning behavior. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to scale the Aurora Driver safely and efficiently, bringing the future of autonomous transportation closer to reality. We are looking for passionate and skilled software engineers who are eager to tackle complex problems and contribute to a mission-critical component of Aurora's success.

In this role, you will
  • Design, develop, and validate onboard and off-board autonomy software.
  • Develop tools for increasing the development speed of building and evaluating autonomy software.
  • Develop tools for introspection, visualization, and performance analysis.
  • Improve the performance of autonomy systems through architectural and algorithmic optimizations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including Autonomy Engineers, Test Engineers, Product, Cloud Platform and Safety to ensure timely delivery of validation data set.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud automation, data and test automation
  • Experience with modern programming languages such as Python or C++
  • Experience with developing in a Linux or Unix environment.
  • Experience with cloud offerings such as AWS or GCP.
  • Experience with cloud storages such as S3, Postgres and Redis.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in Self Driving / Autonomy Driving.
  • Experience in Robotics / Mappings / Motion Planning is a plus.
  • Experience in Distributed Systems and Concurrency.
  • Experience in Scaling Data Pipelines through Observability and Traceability.
  • Experience in Event Queues such as Kafka, SQS or SNS.
  • Experience in Cloud Security Concepts such as JWT and mTLS.

The base salary range for this position is $126,000-$201,000 per year. Aurora's pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
