• Salary range: $100,200 - $125,200 (Salary will be determined based on skills, education, training & experience related to the position).

What's involved in this role:

We are looking for a Lead Whey Product Technologist. This role focuses on managing critical whey stream processes to ensure the production of high-quality whey and valuable ingredient products that fulfill customer expectations while optimizing yields and efficiencies. You will cultivate a manufacturing environment and workforce capable of supporting the production of premium whey ingredients while adhering to Agropur's high standards.

• Conduct accurate statistical analysis on laboratory and process data to identify trends and inform decisions.

• Inspect products for compliance with established specifications.

• Collaborate with plant, corporate, and client personnel to resolve issues and explore improvement opportunities.

• Ensure compliance with all Quality Assurance policies; promptly report any potential food safety issues to management.

• Evaluate microbial quality of dairy processes and proactively address related concerns.

• Contribute to plant designs, production line layouts, and process equipment selection.

• Manage and update production recipes to maximize yield and quality of all products.

• Effectively communicate changes in processes, recipes, operations, and trials to relevant departments.

• Mentor and train operators and supervisors to enhance their skills and performance.

• Drive initiatives to lead production and quality teams in achieving or exceeding customer yield and quality goals.

• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for whey ingredient production and train employees.

• Assist with plant audits (USDA, FDA, State, third party, etc.) and conduct plant tours as needed.

• Work closely with the Quality Assurance department to determine product disposition based on specifications.

• Lead and inspire continuous improvement efforts in the whey production department.

• Engage with the sales department regarding product disposition and customer support; visit customers as needed to address their requirements.

• Support all departments within the whey section to enhance quality, efficiency, and food safety.

• Comply with all Agropur policies, safety protocols, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

• Collaborate with product development and ingredient sales teams on new formulations as required.

• Implement recommendations from Chemical Suppliers Service reports to maintain equipment sanitation.

• Analyze production data to ensure adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Initiate, support, and manage all continuous improvement initiatives related to whey processing.

What you need to join our team:

• Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field required.

• Master's Degree preferred.

• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in a dairy manufacturing environment required or food manufacturing.

• Experience in mechanical and membrane separation and ion-exchange preferred.

• Experience in scaling R&D or pilot work into commercial applications required.
