About The Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg or PCU experience License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Strong post-surgical competencies required Telemetry and remote monitoring skills Colostomy care experience Feeding tube care and management experience Pre/Post Hemodialysis management experience Ability to access ports Blood product administration experience Peripheral line care and management experience PICC line management experience Starting IVs experience Heparin and insulin administration experience PCA knowledge Surgical drains knowledge Chest tube management experience High flow nasal cannula and oxygen administration familiarity Tracheostomy management knowledge Isolation precautions experience Wound care and wound vac experience Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical nursing. The role requires commitment to working nights for three consecutive 12-hour shifts. The nurse must be willing to float to other medical surgical units, ICU, and emergency departments as needed. Ratios are expected to be 1:6. Candidates must have strong post-surgical competencies. Experience with telemetry and remote monitoring is essential. Colostomy care and feeding tube management skills are required. Pre/Post Hemodialysis management expertise is also necessary. Nurses should be proficient in accessing ports and administering blood products. Experience with peripheral line care and management and PICC line management is expected. Starting and maintaining IVs is a key responsibility. Knowledge of heparin and insulin administration is critical. Understanding PCA management is also necessary. Candidates should be familiar with managing surgical drains and chest tubes. High flow nasal cannula and oxygen administration experience is required. Tracheostomy management knowledge is important. Nurses must adhere to isolation precautions. Wound care and the use of wound vacs is also part of the role. This position involves caring for adult and geriatric patients with various surgical and medical diagnoses. Candidates should be adaptable to a fast-paced environment. Interdisciplinary support includes various therapy and medical services. The daily census averages around 47 patients, necessitating efficient and effective care delivery. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills.
