The RN-Weekend Baylor position at UAB Medical West Freestanding ER, is designed for dedicated nursing professionals who are committed to providing high-quality patient care during weekend shifts. This role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive consistent and compassionate care, particularly during times when staffing may be limited. The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess patient needs, develop care plans, and implement appropriate interventions. Additionally, the RN will play a key role in educating patients and their families about health management and recovery processes. Ultimately, the major end result of this position is to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction through effective nursing practices and teamwork.
SIGN-ON BONUS: $10,000
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Alabama.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with relevant experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Must have 1 year experience in ER or ICU.
- Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and performing assessments.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health management, treatment options, and post-discharge care.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely in electronic health records.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a safe and effective healthcare environment.

Effective communication skills are vital for collaborating with team members and educating patients and families. Preferred skills, such as proficiency in EHR systems, will enhance documentation accuracy and streamline communication within the healthcare team.
