Leidos is excited to fill a pivotal Lead Network Engineer role to assist the National Media Exploitation Center (NMEC). The selected engineer will be pivotal in the planning, coordination, and execution of essential computer network initiatives.

This is a 100% on-site position. All work must be performed at the customer site in Bethesda at the Intelligence Community Campus.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain high-availability, scalable, and secure network architectures, including spine-leaf topologies and virtualized environments.
• Plan and sustain LAN/WAN infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity between on-premises systems, cloud environments, and external networks.
• Configure and manage Cisco ACI, routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers for mission-critical operations.
• Monitor server connectivity and performance to optimize network throughput and reliability.
• Utilize network monitoring tools such as ServiceNow, SolarWinds, and PRTG to track network health and incident resolution metrics.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex network issues and develop recovery plans.
• Create and implement contingency plans to ensure network resilience during outages and maintenance.
• Oversee cabling standards and structured wiring practices for consistent data center operations.
• Implement strategies for network segmentation, performance tuning, and latency optimization.
• Collaborate with IT, Cybersecurity, and Application teams to ensure compliance with security and mission requirements.
• Manage service requests through ServiceNow, ensuring proper documentation and timely resolution.
• Provide regular status reports and performance metrics to leadership.
• Support network modernization and data center consolidation initiatives while meeting project requirements.
• Evaluate new network technologies that enhance data center efficiency and security.
• Supervise and mentor junior network engineers, fostering their professional growth.
• Assist management with scheduling and ensure adequate coverage for support activities.
• Participate in resume evaluations and candidate interviews for vacant positions.
• Document performance and provide feedback on subordinates' work.
• Review and approve timesheets following corporate guidelines.
• Be available for after-hours support as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

• Extensive experience designing and managing data center network architectures focusing on scalability and security.
• Hands-on proficiency with Cisco ACI, Nexus, and Catalyst platforms.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and OSPF.
• Experience with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds.
• Understanding of network security principles, including firewalls and VPNs.
• Capability to lead teams and manage performance through shifting priorities.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with senior leadership.
• Must meet DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience or Master's degree with 10+ years of related experience; additional experience may substitute for degree.

Clearance:

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must possess TS/SCI with Poly or willingness to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
• CCNP or CCIE certification.
