Registered Nurse Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (2 years considered for exceptional candidates)
  • Charge Nurse and Preceptor experience required
  • Valid Compact RN license or Maryland Registered Nurse license
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP, Intermediate AWHONN
  • C-EFM through NCC or willingness to register for C-EFM during compliance/first two weeks
  • Preferred certifications: ACLS, STABLE, Advanced AWHONN, C-EFM through NCC
  • Two supervisor references required
  • Flu vaccine required for all healthcare employees
  • Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
  • Community hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive care to laboring mothers and newborns, including Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum, and Couplet Care
  • Circulate for C-sections and assist with high-risk deliveries
  • Float to Postpartum/Couplet care and feeder/grower assignments in Level II NICU as needed
  • Perform sterile vaginal exams, triage obstetrical patients, and support breastfeeding/lactation
  • Administer medications and therapies (magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, antihypertensives)
  • Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns using EFM and IUPC
  • Assist with special procedures (cerclage removal, D&C, D&E)
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, social services)
  • Maintain compliance with all facility policies, including flu vaccination
  • Participate in orientation and complete required modules prior to start
