JMT is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Construction Inspector/MEP Superintendent to carry out Construction Management and Inspection Services in the New York Metropolitan area. Projects may include public housing, education, airport, rail/transportation and/or other public building projects. Experience should include inspection of various HVAC building systems and/or mechanical equipment/systems such as boilers, condensate pumps, gas-fired hot water heaters, mechanical piping, electric motors, power distribution, distribution panels, fire alarm systems, disconnect switches, conduit, wiring, and HVAC controls/building management systems (BMS).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work
- Inspect the work of the trade contractors to ensure compliance with the contract documents and approved shop drawings
- Identify potential extra work issues and keep the Project Manager/Resident Engineer (RE) advised of potential issues
- Prepare estimates of extra work and related sketches and documentation
- Review plans for constructability and prepare comments
- Review contractor payment requests and provide comments to the Resident Engineer/PM
- Working knowledge of the latest Building Codes
- Willingness to learn and an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written. Verbal communication includes speaking with the Project Manager/RE, other contract staff, and facility staff both in person via two-way communication
- 7 years of experience inspecting construction work, varied in size (projects ranging from $200K to $25 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift)
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred
- Plumbing, civil, architectural, and structural knowledge preferred
- ICC and Work Zone Safety Certifications are preferred
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
