Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job Description
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing heavy machinery used in solar system installation, including specialized pile driving and drilling equipment. The role requires deep mechanical knowledge, practical troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety and reliability. You'll work both in-shop and in the field, supporting equipment readiness and minimizing downtime.
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, service, and repair heavy machinery used in solar system installation.
  • Support equipment readiness and minimize downtime both in-shop and in the field.
  • Ensure safety and reliability in all mechanical operations.
  • Operate specialized pile driving and drilling equipment.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed for equipment maintenance and repair.
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years of heavy equipment repair experience.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive to customer sites.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Experience with pile driving rigs, drilling machines, or similar foundation construction equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, and hose routing.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems including drivetrains, gearboxes, and structural assemblies.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • CDL or heavy equipment operator certifications.
  • Must be able to travel to shop in San Rafael.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $60.00/hr.
