Job Description

Town and Country is seeking a determined Project Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for aiding the construction team within the office in all aspects of construction from pre-con to project end. Permabilt Industries, Inc. with its Town & Country Post Frame Buildings Division is the largest post frame building contractor in Western Washington. Since 1973, a specialization in design and construction of post and wood frame, steel-covered buildings have brought Town & Country to a level of quality and workmanship few can surpass. Town & Country has produced over 23,000 structures to date. This is a high volume, quality, and service-oriented position.

The Role

As the Project Engineer you will be working closely with the construction team to make sure that each new projects needs are handled in a precise timely manner. Tasks include building material lists from plans, ordering materials for approved structures, maintaining vendor relations, creating change orders, and working with customers to provide world class service. There may also be additional job-related tasks that come up during a duration of a project that you will need to complete but all will be necessary to keep projects on track.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Conduct material take offs and order materials
  • Complete purchase orders for materials and miscellaneous items purchased
  • Schedule delivery dates for various materials
  • Follow-up on delivery of materials with both vendors and customers
  • Schedule and/or coordinate with Subcontractors as needed
  • Review project packets to insure accuracy and completeness.
  • Review construction documents for any issues and make necessary corrections to avoid future issues
  • Verify with the customer that site is prepared, answer any questions, and handle concerns
  • Call foremen on a daily basis and update Daily Crew Status Log.
  • Do vendor research for new products and best prices
  • Negotiate pricing and discounts with vendors
  • Schedule all inspections as needed
  • Contact jurisdictions on framing and/or final inspection results. Work with inspectors to make necessary corrections
  • Administer and maintain all files/information pertaining to material purchasing within the company.
Job Requirements

This role requires some knowledge of construction and the procedures that are involved in building. The ideal candidate must have an eagerness to learn our construction processes, have good attention to detail, be dependable, good customer service, He/She should be motivated and willing to be flexible while working on several different projects at the same time.
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver's License and Proof of insurance
  • Two to three years related experience in the construction industry
  • Experience reading blue prints.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
