Compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse

Baptist Urgent Care is seeking dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our outstanding team.
JOB SUMMARY:
The LPN will be pivotal in providing excellent patient care, greeting patients, managing patient files, and supporting both patients and medical staff in a dynamic environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties reflect the expectations of this role but are not exhaustive. Additional tasks may be assigned.
- Welcome patients and prepare them for examinations or procedures.
- Record patient's health history and note any abnormal conditions for the physician.
- Instruct patients on sample collection and tests.
- Obtain vital signs and escort patients to exam rooms.
- Assist in preparing supplies and equipment, aiding the physician or mid-level practitioner during treatments and examinations.
- Administer injections and prescribed medications according to physician’s directives and nursing standards.
- Observe, record, and report patients’ conditions and reactions to treatments and medications.
- Make accurate and timely patient chart entries, forwarding them as needed.
- Maintain and update patient files, records, and essential information.
- Assist in scheduling tests and treatments, and arrange referrals to specialists, obtaining pre-authorizations as directed.
- Collect, document, and deliver lab specimens, and obtain test results and reports.
- Notify patients about test results and follow-up appointments.
- Clean and restock exam and treatment rooms between procedures.
- Adhere to infection control policies for handling and disposing of hazardous waste.
- Educate patients and families on medications, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Support providers during physical exams and prepare for procedures.
- Contact pharmacies to order prescriptions and inform patients.
- Maintain accurate inventory of medications and monitor controlled substances.
- Oversee inventory usage and manage medical supplies effectively.
- Ensure medical equipment is stocked and monitored appropriately.
- Screen calls and triage patients to maintain efficient departmental flow.
WHAT'S THE SCHEDULE?
Our full-time staff works a rotating schedule of 36-40 hours per week, consisting of 12-hour shifts on weekdays and every other weekend. PRN (per diem) staff will be scheduled as needed.
WHAT'S REQUIRED?
A degree from an accredited practical nursing program is required.
Previous experience in a hospital or clinic setting is preferred.
Must possess a valid LPN license in accordance with state regulations.
