Position: Patient Access Representative I (PAR I)
Location: 8700 Beverly Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90048
Schedule: Onsite | Temporary | Start times may vary from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM | Weekend shifts required
Duration: 13 weeks
Vaccination Requirement: Flu vaccine required
Position Summary
The Patient Access Representative I (PAR I) provides patients with a welcoming and professional experience while ensuring smooth access to care. This role performs a variety of registration and patient access functions across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services settings.
The PAR I is cross trained to support multiple areas within Patient Access, including scheduling, pre-registration, financial clearance, referrals, authorizations, financial counseling, physician billing, and patient registration.
Department Details
- Work location includes registration desks within the Emergency Department, with bedside registrations also performed.
- Daily patient load: Approximately 25-40 patient registrations per day.
- Attire: Business professional (no scrubs required).
- Register and admit patients accurately and efficiently for all service areas.
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements.
- Confirm coverage for Medi-Cal/Medicare, Workers' Compensation, and other payers.
- Provide patient estimates, determine patient liability, and collect co-pays or deposits.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, confidentiality standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Deliver superior customer service to patients, families, and clinical staff throughout the Cedars-Sinai Health System.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: 1-2 years of hospital registration experience required.
- Computer Skills: Proficient PC knowledge required.
- Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of health insurance policies and billing procedures
- Experience with EPIC EHR system
- First-time travelers accepted
