As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and optimizing large-scale systems and applications, guiding technical design and architecture, and teaming up with a talented engineering group to create groundbreaking solutions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a portfolio of diverse tech projects and lead a team of skilled developers in creating distributed microservices and full-stack systems aimed at fulfilling regulatory requirements.

  • Stay ahead of technology trends, explore new tools, participate in tech communities, and mentor fellow engineers.

  • Work closely with digital product managers to deliver impactful cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans towards financial success.

  • Utilize your knowledge of programming languages including JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, along with experience in Open Source RDBMS, NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services such as Docker and Kubernetes, and various AWS tools and services.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • A minimum of 4 years of software engineering experience (internship experience does not count)

  • At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • 7+ years of experience in programming with at least one of these languages: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go

  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or related cloud services

  • 4+ years of experience working with open source frameworks

  • 1+ years of experience in a management role

  • 2+ years of experience in Agile methodologies

The salary range for this role in McLean, VA is $193,400 - $220,700 for the Lead Software Engineer position.

This role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives. Capital One provides a comprehensive benefits package that promotes your overall well-being.
