Job Description

The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level that does not require constant supervision. This role involves the performance of essential job functions as outlined below.

Responsibilities

• Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, and selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs.
• Restricts radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to prevent exposure to unaffected parts of the patient.
• Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
• Identifies and accurately marks films with patient information such as name and x-ray number.
• Processes exposed x-ray films using available methods.
• Completes patient requisitions with necessary technologist information.
• Maintains an orderly x-ray room as directed by the head of the department.
• Prepares and assists in the administration of radiopaque contrast media to patients.
• Handles administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instruction, film filing, and maintenance of records.
• Provides assistance to patients according to individual needs during x-ray procedures.
• Adheres to organizational standards for care delivery and patient interaction, adapting communication based on patient needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
• Must hold a New Jersey State License and be eligible for the National Registry examination.
• Prior orthopedic office experience is preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
