About The Position
Urgently seeks three experienced Locum PAs to support their Cardiothoracic Surgery team due to staffing shortages. This is an inpatient hospital-based role with varied weekday, weekend, and night call shifts.
Schedule & Responsibilities:
-
Weekday shifts: Monday-Friday, 8-10 hours/day in-house
-
Night call: 6 PM - 6 AM
-
Weekend coverage: Friday 6 PM - Monday 6 AM; rounding 7 AM-12 PM Saturday & Sunday
-
Rounding on 5-12 patients/day (ICU and floor), performing consults
-
Assisting in cardiac surgeries as first assist
-
Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) and retrieval of vascular tissue
-
Chest tube insertions, suture removal, and patient care coordination
-
Ordering/interpreting tests, writing prescriptions, and diagnosing/treating illnesses
Required Duties:
- Rounding
- Coordination of Care
- Assist in Surgery

- Write Prescriptions
- Suture Removal
Job Requirements
-
NCCPA Certification - REQUIRED
-
Active New Jersey PA License - REQUIRED (no time for licensing delays)
-
CSR (Controlled Substance Registration) - REQUIRED
-
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery with EVH & first assist - REQUIRED

BLS & ACLS required; PAs must be comfortable using Cerner EMR
Qualifications:

Strong surgical and inpatient experience

Ability to work varied schedules including nights and weekends

Excellent communication and patient care skills
