Job Description

Sustaining Engineer I - Entry Level
We have an exciting opportunity for a Sustaining Engineer I to join a growing engineering team focused on product assurance and compliance. This role is ideal for an entry-level engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys hands-on problem-solving, and is eager to grow their career in the power industry.

As a Sustaining Engineer, you will ensure that products meet industry standards and customer expectations for application, reliability, and quality. You'll also work closely with cross-functional teams to improve processes, modernize equipment, and support cost-reduction strategies that help maintain competitiveness in the market.
What You'll Do
  • Support product assurance initiatives to maintain reliability, quality, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and application teams to solve problems and meet customer needs.
  • Design, test, and implement practical engineering solutions for customer applications.
  • Assist customers with application-specific design questions and analysis.
  • Partner with the manufacturing team to implement new processes and modernize equipment.
  • Perform hands-on evaluations in the shop and lab, including inspecting equipment using lifts and tools.
  • Apply critical thinking to evaluate alternatives and make sound engineering decisions.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred; BSMET, BSEE, or BSEET also considered).
  • 0-2 years of experience (internship or co-op experience strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and 3D design software (SolidWorks strongly preferred).
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset and creative problem-solving ability.
  • Willingness to work hands-on with manufacturing and equipment.
  • Adaptability and comfort with shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Project and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% when needed.
Why This Role Is Unique
This position is not just desk work-it's highly collaborative and hands-on. You'll be working closely with a small sustaining engineering team alongside design engineers, manufacturing, and sales. You'll have opportunities to see your designs in action on the shop floor, provide solutions in real time, and directly impact the performance of products used in the power industry.

If you have the right mix of technical skills, critical thinking, and enthusiasm to get hands-on with engineering challenges, this is an excellent entry point into a rewarding and impactful career.
