Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist with a focus on Adult Respiratory Care. In this role, you will carry out essential duties to treat patients based on physician orders and departmental policies while working independently in various acute and critical care settings. You will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare personnel to make informed treatment recommendations and provide care to patients across all age groups, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform respiratory therapy procedures independently, adhering to physician orders and departmental policies - 20%
  • Obtain and analyze blood gas samples from all sites, reporting results accurately - 10%
  • Initiate and manage all types of mechanical ventilation and airways - 20%
  • Document and charge for all respiratory care procedures accurately, including patient and family education - 10%
  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and provide comprehensive reports - 10%
  • Maintain infection control practices, ensuring proper cleaning and sterilization of equipment - 10%
  • Act responsibly in stewarding resources, including supplies and time - 10%

Supervisory/Management Responsibility

This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or eligible for licensure in South Carolina, or a senior student nearing graduation.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

Must hold a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in South Carolina or be eligible for licensure. BLS certification is required. NBRC credentials must be maintained. Previous employees may qualify as Certified Respiratory Therapists if hired prior to June 2016. Those hired after June 2016 must pass the Therapist Multiple Choice Exam and Clinical Simulation Exam within specified timeframes.
