Position Summary: We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician to perform independent medical evaluations for veterans. This position focuses exclusively on evaluations and does not involve patient treatment. You will review medical records, conduct detailed assessments, and complete VA-specific Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) through a secure online system, aiding the VA in making informed disability decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine and interpret veterans' medical records via a secure online portal.
  • Carry out comprehensive non-treating assessments to document current health conditions of veterans.
  • Fill out and submit DBQs using VA-approved templates to capture crucial medical findings.
  • Ensure accuracy and thoroughness of all DBQs are submitted within 24 hours following the assessments.
  • Evaluate up to four veterans each day.

Schedule: 1 day/month or 2 half days every other week

Compensation: Competitive daily rate ranging from $1,200 to $1,400, based on experience.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Passionate about conducting independent medical assessments in a non-treating, investigative capacity.
  • Expert in analyzing and synthesizing information from extensive medical records and evaluations.
  • Proficient in effective time management, ensuring completion of tasks within set deadlines while maintaining high quality.
  • Comfortable with digital documentation and record assessment tools.
  • Deeply committed to serving veterans and making a positive impact in their lives.

Requirements:

  • Current MD or DO license with a specialization in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R).
  • Board certification in Neurological Surgery, PM&R, or Psychiatry and Neurology is preferred; candidates with a completed two-year residency in a related specialty will also be considered.
  • Strong typing abilities and a keen eye for detail are essential.
