Summary

Join Apple's Quality Engineering organization as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) focused on Swift Intelligence Frameworks, with primary emphasis on FoundationModels testing and validation. You'll be responsible for creating, maintaining, and delivering comprehensive test strategies that ensure Apple's intelligent frameworks meet the highest standards for reliability, performance, and developer experience. Working closely with framework engineering teams, you'll develop automated testing infrastructure, validate new features, and ensure seamless integration across Apple's ecosystem of platforms including iOS, macOS, and visionOS.

In this role, you'll contribute to the quality of frameworks that empower millions of developers to create intelligent applications, while working with cutting-edge technology that shapes the future of Apple Intelligence. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand complex framework behaviors, design robust test automation, and drive continuous improvement in testing methodologies for next-generation developer tools.

Description

As an SDET you will create and maintain sophisticated testing infrastructure that validates the reliability and performance of Apple's most strategic developer frameworks. Your primary focus will be developing comprehensive test automation for FoundationModels, ensuring that developers can seamlessly integrate advanced machine learning capabilities into their applications. You'll design and implement automated test suites that cover functional, integration, and regression testing across iOS, macOS, and visionOS platforms, while collaborating closely with framework engineering teams to understand expected behaviors and track evolving features.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include prioritizing automation results from various testing pipelines, validating developer Xcode workflows including Previews and Simulator functionality, as well as maintaining robust test harnesses that facilitate comprehensive validation scenarios. You'll work to validate processes for critical testing phases, setting up and configuring test environments across multiple platforms, and ensuring that build and deployment processes remain stable and reliable. Additionally, you'll contribute to improving test coverage for new framework features, enhance test quality to facilitate easier triage, and maintain automated testing pipelines while staying closely aligned with framework development teams to anticipate and validate upcoming functionality changes and improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in software testing with strong focus on test automation

  • Expert proficiency in Swift programming language, design patterns, generics, and Swift concurrency

  • Experience developing for Apple platforms using Xcode SwiftUI, XCTest and XCUIAutomation

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of large language models (LLMs) and prompt engineering concepts

  • Experience testing machine learning frameworks or other complex, non-deterministic systems.

  • Deep Knowledge of developer tools, SDKs, or framework testing and validation methodologies

  • Familiarity with continuous integration systems and build automation

  • Experience with Python for test automation, tooling or machine learning
