Position: Academic College Consultant

Employment Type: Full Time

Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 DOE

Role Overview:

The Academic College Consultant will actively coach and advise students throughout their middle and high school journey. This role is essential in preparing students for college applications using a structured curriculum and data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

Student Coaching and Advising:

  • Guide students through academic planning and the college admissions process, including UC, Common App, and CSU applications.
  • Conduct personalized one-on-one sessions to assess students' academic progress and provide tailored advice. Most sessions will be held in person at our San Ramon and Walnut Creek locations.
  • Help students develop effective skills such as time management, study habits, and academic/career goal setting.
  • Facilitate workshops and seminars (both in-person and remotely) related to academic and college planning for students and their families.

Curriculum Implementation:

  • Use the structured curriculum provided by StrivePath to deliver consistent, effective coaching.
  • Ensure all coaching activities align with the curriculum and leverage data to track student progress.

Admissions Expertise:

  • Stay informed about the latest trends and changes in the college admissions landscape.
  • Provide valuable insights and strategies to students and parents to enhance their chances of college application success.

Collaboration and Documentation:

  • Collaborate with other consultants and staff to share insights and enhance strategies.
  • Document findings and strategies to contribute to the curriculum's improvement and coaching methods.

Face-to-Face Interactions:

  • Engage with students in person to build strong relationships and provide customized support.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field (Master's preferred). Certification in college planning and membership in HECA/WACAC/NACAC is preferred.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in college admissions consulting or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the UC, Common App, and CSU application processes.

Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and process-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach with a spirit of curiosity.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Familiarity with G-suite is required. Experience with College Planner Pro and Notion is a plus.
