Job Overview:

Search Solution Group is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant on behalf of our client, a respected organization known for its impact in nursing education. This role is essential to managing and analyzing inventory and cost accounting functions, supporting month-end close activities, and driving cost-efficiency throughout the business. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills with a focus on inventory, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the month-end inventory close process and related reconciliations
  • Perform reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts
  • Partner with the Revert Management group to ensure accurate valuation and counting of revert material
  • Assist with inventory forecasting, analysis, and variance explanations
  • Lead the development of cost travelers in coordination with product management
  • Conduct profitability and margin analyses
  • Prepare monthly inventory reserves (Excess & Obsolete, Hedges, etc.) and engage with business units to reduce reserve balances
  • Act as the primary point of contact for inventory-related financial data and analysis
  • Drive process improvements and efficiency within inventory and cost accounting
  • Participate in physical inventory counts and maintain the cycle count program
  • Produce monthly and quarterly reports, including scrap and ABL reporting
  • Contribute to cost savings initiatives and support ongoing finance projects
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests as needed
Requirements include:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required)
  • Advanced degree (MBA or CPA) is preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting, cost estimation analysis, or process manufacturing
Skills:
  • Strong Excel and data analysis capabilities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
Certifications:
  • CPA certification is a plus
Knowledge:
  • Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management practices
  • Familiarity with financial reporting, forecasting, and reserve analysis in a manufacturing environment
Key Competencies:

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a process improvement focus
  • Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
