Job Description: The Postpartum Nurse provides compassionate care to mothers and newborns following delivery. The RN monitors maternal recovery, supports infant care, educates patients and families, and ensures a safe and positive postpartum experience.
Responsibilities:
Assess maternal and newborn health and monitor for complications.
Assist with breastfeeding, newborn care, and parental education.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Document patient care accurately and timely.
Collaborate with physicians, lactation consultants, and care team members.
Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families.
Requirements:
Active RN license in the state of assignment.
Experience in postpartum, maternal-child, or obstetric nursing preferred.
BLS certification required; NRP preferred.
Strong assessment, communication, and patient-education skills.
