Job Description
We’re seeking an experienced Electrical/HW Design Engineer to join our Technology Integration and Prototyping Center (TIPC) team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and integrating advanced hardware solutions for aerospace and military systems, including vehicles, missiles, radars, and space platforms. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in PCB design, digital and analog circuit design, schematic creation, and FPGA firmware development. You’ll work in a collaborative, solution-driven environment alongside mechanical and firmware engineers to bring complex products from concept to production. Responsibilities include developing schematics, debugging circuits, creating PCB layouts, and ensuring performance standards are met. A strong technical foundation and self-starting attitude are essential for success in this role. Skills and Requirements
• Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience) and an active DoD Secret-level security clearance. (Bachelor's acceptable with strong experience)
• 12+ years of progressively complex electrical hardware engineering experience, including PCB design, schematic capture, layout, and integration/testing of complex systems.
• Extensive experience with FPGA design using VHDL and tools such as Xilinx SDK, along with proficiency in developing firmware for embedded systems.
• Strong understanding of analog interfaces (2-wire/3-wire/4-wire sensor systems, voltage/current excitation) and digital design principles, plus hands-on experience with avionics bus integration.
• Advanced proficiency with Altium Designer for PCB development and skilled in using electronic instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators) for troubleshooting and validation. • Experience in avionics, defense, or aerospace hardware development.
• Strong understanding of avionic buses such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, ARINC 818.
• Familiar with MIL-STD-704A Aircraft Electrical Power and DO-160D.
• Experience with designing PCBs with Blind, Buried Vias found in High Density Interconnect (HDI) circuit boards.
• PCB layout experience with RF, analog, and mixed signal PCBs.
• In-depth knowledge of PCB layout techniques, including impedance control and EMI design considerations.
