in the role of Recreation Specialist
Come join the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department in the role of Recreation Specialist I/II/III. The City of Roseville is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Recreation Specialist I/II/III to join our Sports Section to assist with the day-to-day operations of the new Placer Valley Soccer Complex Facility Operations and/or Placer Valley Soccer Complex Concession Stands.
RECREATION SPECIALIST I/II/III - PVSC Facility Operations and/or Concessions

In this role, some of your duties may include, but are not limited to:
PVSC Facility Operations
  • Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Placer Valley Soccer Complex.
  • Facilitating field rental permits for sports organizations.
  • Setting up fields and equipment for sports leagues and tournaments and much more.
Concession Stands
  • Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Placer Valley Soccer Complex concession stands.
  • Preparing food items, cashiering, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Maintaining food safety standards, cleaning and much more.

Minimum Qualifications

Recreation Specialist I
Experience and Training
Experience:
One season of experience in subject area is desirable.

AND

Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the tenth (10th) grade or fifteen (15) years of age by the beginning of summer programs.

License or Certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR and First Aid certificates within six (6) months of hire.
Note: Minors may have preclusions or restrictions in duties assigned and licenses required pursuant to 29 CFR § 570.

Recreation Specialist II
Experience and Training
Experience:
One (1) season of experience in the subject area.

AND

Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the eleventh (11th) grade at the beginning of summer programs.

License or Certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR and First Aid certificates within six (6) months of hire.
Note: Minors may have preclusions or restrictions in duties assigned and licenses required pursuant to 29 CFR § 570.

Recreation Specialist III
Experience and Training
Experience:
Two (2) seasons of experience performing duties in the subject area.

AND

Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or higher level degree by the beginning of summer programs.

License or Certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR and First Aid certificates within six (6) months of hire.

SELECTION PROCESS:All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will have their application scored in a Formula Rate Examination. The applicant's experience and education will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the Employment List. Supplemental questions will be utilized by the department hiring authority to make interview and selection determinations.

Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references, passing a City-paid fingerprint check, and depending on the position applied for, a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening test, credit check, license and/or education verification, psychological examination, and/or an extensive Police Department background check process.

Some positions require the clearance of a comprehensive Police Department (PD) background check within 12 months of appointment. The City may appoint candidates to positions prior to clearing the extensive Police Department background check, and in those circumstances the candidate will be advised in advance that security access in the information technology systems will be limited to non-PD related systems until PD clearance is received, and if the candidate ultimately does not clear the PD background it will result in release from City service without appeal rights, in accordance with Personnel Rules 3.04.050.
