Schedule/Hours:
Full-time, evening shift with either 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, including call responsibilities—primarily overnight call with varying hours based on staffing needs.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment conducive to optimal patient care through aseptic surgical techniques.
- Assist in all types of procedures and maintain a solid understanding of various surgical practices.
- Prepare operating rooms, ensuring environmental safety and readiness for each procedure.
- Function as a second assistant when needed, facilitating smooth procedures.
- Notify staff regarding equipment and supply issues to maintain operational efficiency.
- Transport patients and equipment as required, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain the completeness of specialty carts and items, checking conditions and ensuring their availability.
- Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care by assessing patient needs.
Qualifications:
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required within 6 months unless exempted by the department leader.
- Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology is required.
- No previous experience is needed.
Required Skills:
- Understanding of aseptic techniques and surgical procedures.
- Familiarity with operating room equipment.
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Commitment to ongoing education and certification maintenance.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physical demands such as lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of push/pull actions with up to 30 lbs. of force.
- Must demonstrate functional sight and hearing abilities.
